"My wife and stayed in a King - partial ocean view room. The view was nice but overlooked several other buildings.
We could see a neigbor's wash hanging on the clothes line. My first - but false impression was the hotel was right on the beach, not a short walk away. The room was an adaquate size, clean, but furniture was clunky and old - and could have used a table upon which to eat a meal - rather than a desk.
The pillow-top bed was nice to sleep on or to rest while watching television.
The jets in the large jacuzzi tub lacked power and therefore did little for my aching muscles sore from walking in historic areas.
We would consider returning - someday.
The restaurant - which is a separate business - served a wonderful breakfast - for which the hotel offers daily vouchers at $8.50 per adult. Items on the dinner and lunch menu did not appeal to us and seemed a bit pricy.
I'd give it 3.5 stars."

"Our experience here at Castillo Real is thus far the best experience we ever had at a hotel. My girlfriend and I came from Jacksonville, FL looking to just get away for a few days and had a wonderful view of the beach overlooking the surrounding area. The rooms are spotless and the customer service is exceptional from the front desk to the house keeping. Not to mention the food is undeniably GREAT! I recommend everyone to come to this resort. It would leave you speechless. Anytime we need to come back and visit St. Augustine, there is no question about where we will stay. This resort hotel is AMAZING!!!"

"We came to St. Augustine with hotel reservations at another hotel, we were horribly disappointed and left the other hotel without another place to stay. We came to Castillo Real and received a warm welcome at the front desk by Stacey, she was our saving grace. She helped us with a room for our 8 day plans and was super nice. She made recommendations for the area and was very sympathetic of our situation. The Hotel was wonderful, super clean. We highly recommend this hotel and will reccommend it to friends. "We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much. It was very convenient to the Amphitheatre and the historic part of the town. Stacie (desk clerk) was great!! Not only did she make us feel welcome, but, she entertaining and made our check-in process exciting and fun. She definitely makes you 'smile'!!! She also volunteered information on local restuarants and went out of her way to get us adjoiniing rooms since we had teenagers with us. Outstanding service!!!"

"This was our second stay at the Castillo Real. On this vacation we were originally going to Hilton Head Island. Drove 11 hours to be treated horribly at a terrible hotel (The Beach House, don't go there!). We got our money back and called Castillo, where we KNOW is paradise. They had a room available, so we drove the additional 3 hours and checked in. I'm so glad we did. My husband and I were so pleased again with the service, quality and cleanliness of the rooms, and excellent restaurant. The beach was quiet and peaceful. We stayed for a week and we both agreed this will now be our ONLY beach destination, and we will definitely be back. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. This is the most comfortable bed you will sleep in aside from your own at home!"

"Thanks to Stacie, our trip ended up being great! We had driven around St Augustine for over 5 hours searching for a decent place to stay. I can tell you, most of the hotels in St Augustine do not resemble their pictures on their website, but Castilla Real is actually better. After looking at several hotels, I can tell you, this is the only one that I will ever stay at in St Augustine. It is by far the nicest and has a great restaurant and very friendly staff. "We stayed June 22-24,2012 in a king/jacuzzi with ocean view (room 410). The view was amazing and the room was very nice. The bed was huge as well as comfortable. We spent a large portion of time at the pool Saturday and found it very relaxing. The beach is just a short walk. We were a bit further from downtown St. Augustine, but a quick cab ride ($10 for two) and you are there. We enjoyed our stay and will return."

"This hotel is a little pricey looking when you check to see how much it will cost you, but when I went i planned on staying for 2 days and wound up staying almost a week. This hotel is truly paradise, and if they were cheaper I would just move in. This hotel has everything you could ever want or need and the customer service is unparalleled by anything or anyone. Easily the best hotel anywhere from Germany to the four corners or the U.S. and everywhere in between, and I have stayed in most. Would not choose to stay anywhere else. This place is better than home, it really is paradise."

The hotel was better than advertised as the room was top notch, clean as pure snow, and delightful with elegant vanity, beautifl decoration, amazing jacuzzi, and extremely comfortable bed. Not to mention that breakfast at La Cocina was terrific!! The customer service from the front desk, to servers at La Cocina to housekeeping was perfect. A perfect stay at Castillo Real and I appreciate it. The only negative to any part of the stay had to deal with the bath robe (I do not wear robes, my wife does) as my wife stated the bath robe was scratchy, not soft. That is nitpicking, I know. Delightful stay and next time I am in St. Augustine, Castillo Real will be the choice. Thanks!!"

"My husband and I planned our wedding at Castillo Real. We had our ceremony on the beach and then came back to the hotel for a wonderful dinner at the restaurant inside the hotel. Our guests loved the accommodations and they all stayed for the entire weekend. We make it a point to visit at least once a year. The hotel staff was so helpful and really made the wedding 'weekend' wonderful for everyone."

"I am writting to inform you of the excellent customer service that I just received this past weekend from Sarah. My boyfriend & I were in St. Augustine from Tampa to celebrate Valentine's Day. The original hotel that we were going to stay at ended up being a complete dump to where I didn't even want to touch anything. We ended up checking a few other hotels & none of them had availability for Friday & Saturday night. We stopped in at the Castillo Real & Sarah informed me that they had one room left that she had been holding all week as a back up in case something happened to one of the other rooms. I was completely beside myself! At that point I didn't even care what the price was. The room ended up being AMAZING! It had a king bed, it was a jacuzzi room with the ocean view on the top floor. Sarah really turned our weekend around for us & we both greatly appreciated what she was able to do for us. Thanks to Sarah we have found the hotel we will be planning on staying at eveytime we go up to St. Augustine!"

"After 2 days looking online for a hotel in St. Augustine Beach, we decided to give a chance to Castillo Real, We never heard of it and all reviews were possitive. We arrived to the place, beautiful and elegant, we were a little earlier for the check in but that was not a problem for the hotel to allow us to check in. Not just that, as a courtesy, we were upgraded to one of the Oceanview suites with hot tub, no extra charge. Opening the door and we had a nice aroma of clean and fresh and it was. Extremely clean, well provided with all supplies a nice california king size bed, with clean sheets. Luxurious designs. A nice and comfortable hot tob. And a private balcony on the forth floor. The only...side down is that the ocean view os not absolute, since is a smaller building in front. We still could enjoy the view, but like I said, Is not absolute. Ocean is 3 minutes walking. Very quite hotel. La Cocina restautant is a must visit. And the personnel, very friendly. Thank you to all for your smiles from day arriving to leaving. We will return!"
